Our Purposes:
To promote the conservation of birds and their habitats throughout Appalachia and beyond
To engage in in-situ and ex-situ scientific research and wildlife management that supports and promotes avian conservation
To educate the public about birds, their habitats, conservation of natural resources, and the ecosystems on which growing human populations and wildlife depend
To serve as a resource for the public regarding all aspects of wild bird conservation
To rescue, treat, rehabilitate, and release back to the wild injured, orphaned, or ill songbirds, raptors, eagles, waterfowl, waterbirds, and seabirds
To hold and train non-releasable birds for education, outreach, and conservation purposes
To adhere to the highest standards of research, education, outreach, veterinary medicine, animal management, training, and husbandry
To collaborate with educational institutions, government and private agencies, law enforcement, non-profits, for- profits, and other appropriate organizations in support of the institutional mission
To promote volunteerism and foster community involvement
To not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, or veteran status
